Centers: Dice Music

At the dice music center, students roll the dice (they can roll one die, two, three, etc - it doesn't really matter). They check the key on their worksheet to find out which note name is designated to the number they rolled. In the little heartbeats, they write the letter name (making sure to put a ' or a , beside the C to show that it is high or low C. Once they have rolled all of their note names, they can add a rhythm to their song in the boxes beneath the heartbeats (I just asked for Ta's and Ti-Ti's, but you can always add other rhythms as well). Then they practice playing their final product until they can play it off by heart!

If students are in grades 4 and 5, I have them notate their song on the music staff.
